Summary: This book was written by a small but intelligent and smart boy named Adrian Mole aged 13 at that time. He wrote this secret diary for almost two years. In this book, he wrote everything that happened to him. His parents were in a bad relationship and he had grandmother and a dog. His dog was trouble maker. He always made something go wrong. So, Adrian Mole hated it. When he was fourteen, his mother got along with Lucas who was his neighbor. Eventually, she left house for new her place where only Lucas and She would live. After that, even he became unemployed. He became a chain smoker and a bad drunk. Fortunately, when Adrian became fifteen his mother came back home. During the time his mother was not at home, Adrian missed her very much and hated Lucas very much. He thought that obscene Lucas lured her mother and took away. As a puberty boy, he also had loved girl named Pandora. However, his best friend called Nigel became the first buddy with her, after Nigel heard that Adrian loved her. Then Pandora broke up with Nigel for not a long time and came in touch with another man. Also she broke up with him, and finally became friends with Adrian because of red socks accident. He had been going together with her for over one year. He was also an intelligent. Even he wrote some poems and tried to write in the paper, but he was refused many times. Since he was thirteen years old, after he joined good Samaritan, he had helped the elderly person called Burt.
Appreciation: As you know, it is really exciting and interesting to glance at other person’s diary. Especially, when the diary is being kept personally, and the writers usually write down personal feelings and thoughts. Since the feelings and thoughts are so personal so they are usually secret. It is exciting to know one’s secret. Thus, while reading this book, I felt that someone told his secret only to me. It is not so surprising that I took the time to read this book only two days. What he wrote is typical things that adolescents can often think, so it makes readers who are also similar age easily sympathize with the diary. Most juveniles have had at least one boyfriend/girlfriend since they arrive at puberty. In this book, the main character also has a girlfriend: Pandora while I reading his love story, I can figure out what feelings he has and what would happen, because he kept diary specifically what happened during the day. This book includes not only love story, but touching story that Adrian helped elderly person. I also have grandmother and old aged neighbor, but I rarely have affection to them. After reading this book, I thought that the old are usually lonely, so they need somebody to talk with. Just talking, clearing, and helping chore can be very delightful to them. Therefore, I became shameful since I did not greet to them, which can be trivial pleasure. Thus, I determined to do a little thing to glad them. However this thing would be hard to do at first, thus I respect him for his courage.
Also I got inspired by his intellectual behavior. I know that such behavior would look silly to real elite. Yet, it is important to know that through this process person can be real intelligent. His diligent efforts inspired me. Furthermore, since I have experienced similar happens, I can understand better him. In puberty, teenagers sometimes compose poems or make story. It is a part of young girls and boys’ common traits, intellectual vanity. This book describes well about adolescents’ sensibilities. This book is quite impressive and touching even funny. Because It describes well about puberty boy’s feelings and thoughts. His routine is lovely and friendly to me. I have read many fairy tales or stories of which main character is teenager. However I have never met before such an interesting boy. I heard that there is another series that record his routine. I would like to read that. I was glad to know wonderful, lovely, and friendly book. I will not forget about it.
